Corporate - Company Profile

Western Desert Resources Limited (ASX Code: WDR) is a diversified mineral exploration business with the objective to increase shareholder value by company growth through the discovery, acquisition and development of substantial economic mineral resources.

The Board and Management of Western Desert Resources have substantial experience in the development of mining projects with specific expertise in project generation and delivering exploration success.

      Principle projects:

Roper Bar

This is the company’s flagship project in the new Roper Bar Iron Ore Province in the Northern Territory.  A joint venture with Japanese trading conglomerate Itochu, the project area covers 2,200 square kilometres and is located only 40 kilometres from the coast.

Mapping has confirmed iron enrichment in the Sherwin Ironstone Member which outcrops over an area of 55 square kilometres.   Drilling in 2009 established extensive zones of hematite enrichment.   JORC-compliant Inferred Mineral Resource calculations have been completed on one area containing direct shipping ore (DSO) and two areas of beneficiable ore (BFO).   The material is very low in phosphorous and other deleterious elements, which makes it premium quality feed for steel-making.

Preliminary metallurgical testwork indicates BFO material can be upgraded to DSO with simple crushing and gravity separation.

A substantial drilling program is planned for field season 2010 to refine existing resources and delineate new areas of hematite enrichment.   A Scoping Study is scheduled for completion by end of 2010.

Mountain Creek

Mountain Creek is a 100% owned project in the Roper Bar Iron Ore Province.   It comprises 1,000 square kilometres of tenement located immediately northwest of the Roper Bar project area.

Mapping shows the prospective Sherwin Ironstone Member extends from the Roper Bar area for at least 20 kilometres into the Mountain Creek tenement.   Surface samples report iron assays up to >60%.

A substantial drilling program is planned to commence in 2010 as soon as the end of the Top End wet season allows ground access.

Rover

The emerging Rover field is some 60 kilometres south-west of Tennant Creek (NT).   A joint venture with listed company TNG Limited gives WDR access to tenements adjacent to the Rover 1 project (Westgold Resources Limited) which recently announced “bonanza” gold grades from drilling.

Surveys completed in 2009 identified numerous targets suggestive of Tennant Creek style ironstone bodies under cover.   A drilling program to test the priority targets is planned to commence in February 2010.

Spring Hill

This project is 100% owned by WDR.   Located in the Pine Creek Goldfields, the Spring Hill gold deposit has an Inferred Resource of 3.6Mt at 2.34 g/t containing 274,000 oz of gold.

Interest in this deposit has increased with the recent rise in the gold price.   Desktop studies suggest a modest size heap leach operation has economic potential.

Limbla

The Limbla project is 100% owned by WDR.   Located 100 kilometres east of Alice Springs, it is prospective for uranium, base metals and nickel.

The area includes two uranium prospects at Albarta and Tourmaline Hill.   Recent results from nickel and base metal exploration by Mithril Resources Limited on adjoining ground enhances the polymetallic prospectivity of the Limbla area.

Detailed airborne surveys have been completed, and a new EM survey is planned for early 2010.

Thor

The acquisition of a major interest in Thor Mining provides exposure to the high grade Molyhil tungsten and molybdenum deposit in the Northern Territory.  Plans for construction of a plant to produce scheelite and molybdenite concentrate are under review in anticipation of strengthening commodities prices.
